Fashion being inspired by nature is no new thing. Insects in particular, have long been avenues of inspiration. The colour palette, prints and structure of Marios Schwab’s autumn winter 2010-2011 collection was inspired by bugs like the beetle. Another fashion house that had models covered figuratively in beetle inspired pieces was Bottega Veneta.
For as far back as I remember I have been enamoured with Dragonflies and always keep an eye out in thrift stores for jewellery with Dragonfly motifs.
With insects getting such a sore deal (the nano second like life span, the pest status and the buzz kill of being prey for small animals), I often forget how beautiful the colour of their iridescent parts, truly is.
