Top 10 menswear moments - in pictures

Best moment of menswear A/W 2012? It has to be the Prada show by a country mile. The sumptuous carpeted set; the collection itself - take particular note of top pocket adornment, polo necks and luxe coats; the headline-grabbing Hollywood A-list model casting, including Gary Oldman, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth and the divine Mr Adrien Brody. There is no denying this was Prada’s season Photograph: Helen Seamons/Guardian

Kate king looking gorgeous
Way out west: Kate King

Part of the appeal of Western-style fashion is surely the sense of adventure we inherently tie to it. The things you can do with the weight of some sturdy cowboy boots on your feet instead of a less-practical pair of heels, the mix of unstoppable toughness and irresistible beauty. That’s what Aurora Sansone’s styling is romancing in this shoot for Vogue Japan, with model Kate King dressed in lace dresses, layers of turquoise jewellery, and a mandatory pair of dusty Western boots.
(Over)dressed for the supermarket
http://www.fashionising.com/pictures/b--Overdressed-for-the-supermarket-18268.html
We’ve all had that moment where we’re dressed to as much fabulousness as our wardrobes will allow, we’re heading to a spectacular party, and we need to pick up a few things up from the supermarket on the way. You know you’re overdressed for the freezer isle, but there’s something oddly liberating about click-clacking around in your high heels. You can pretend you dressed up, set your hair and applied your best lipstick just do your grocery shopping.
Constance Jablonski is having one of those moments for Vogue Mexico. Sarah Gore-Reeves’ styling is all about the season’s prints, but against the mundane setting of grocery store shelves the florals and animal prints don’t act as much of an urban camouflage. Quite the contrary: it’s the everyday setting that makes a rather dreamy looking, 60s style Constance stand out so much more.

Braided: Aline Weber

How many different ways can you braid hair? Or, more importantly to this shoot, how many different moods can you create by braiding hair in different ways?
While no doubt there are many others out there, Vogue Paris’ February 2012 issue hits upon four: a punkish braided fauxhawk, a Rapunzel side braid, a braided fringe, and, a seemingly undying favourite, the milkmaid braid.
Interesting news, and not sure why it has taken me a couple of weeks to notice but Additions Direct has merged / been acquired by the Very group.
Now I'm hoping that we will get the best of both here and that the combined force of both of these great retail / fashion outlets will be better than them competing against each other. Any thoughts from anyone? Please drop me a note.
Pop over to the site and have a look at what's left of the Additions Catalogue!

There are models whose names you well and truly know – they’re in the campaigns of the biggest luxury brands, their faces make regular appearance on the covers of the stalwart print titles. There are models who are breathtaking yet incognito, unbeknownst to the influential casting directors and the general consumer. Then there are those in-between: you may or may not know their names, they walk in dozens of shows but they don’t have the incredible star power of the first category. These are the ‘faces of now’. It’s a fickle industry and not all of them will be the faces of tomorrow. They may be trend-based models who fit a particular look. They’ll either make their impact while they’re in the spotlight before making way for other ‘faces of now’, or they’ll continue to rise into household names.
Either way we can love them, watch them with intrigue, enjoy their faces and poses and walks while they’re having their time in the spotlight. In V Magazine’s ‘Model Issue’ the faces of now were determined to include the likes of Julia Nobis, Charlotte Free, Ruby Aldridge and Hailey Clauson. Hedi Slimane gave them his black and white portraiture treatment for the issue.
